About

Photography has been a lifelong passion of mine, beginning in childhood with a simple Box Brownie camera before progressing to 35mm SLR film cameras in my teens. Over the years I’ve developed my skills through experimentation, study, formal training, and thousands of hours behind the lens.

In 2004 I completed photographic studies through AUT in Auckland, New Zealand, where I learned traditional film photography techniques and darkroom processing — foundations that still influence the way I approach photography today.

I enjoy photographing both domestic and wild animals, natural environments, dramatic weather, rugged landscapes, unusual plants, flowers, insects, and scenes that reveal colour, texture, structure, and atmosphere. From iPhone photography through to dedicated digital and mirrorless camera systems, my focus is always on composition, light, and capturing a moment in a way that draws the viewer into the scene.

Much of my inspiration comes from travel and exploration. Hiking throughout New Zealand’s famous and lesser-known landscapes, travelling through Peru and South America, and voyaging from Ushuaia to Antarctica have all shaped the way I see the world and the images I create.

I’m particularly drawn to finding unique compositions and using the natural elements within a scene to create images that feel immersive, dramatic, and larger than life — encouraging others to pause and appreciate what I experienced in that fleeting moment.
