Arequipa is Peru’s second-most populous city, known as the "White City" (Ciudad Blanca) because its stunning historic center is built from sillar, a bright white volcanic stone. Nestled beneath three striking volcanoes (El Misti, Chachani, and Pichu Pichu), it sits in southern Peru at an elevation of 2,325 meters.
